In recent years BlueWater has become one of the largest manufacturers of climbing equipment in the United States. We began manufacturing static kernmantle caving rope in 1969, and in 1975 introduced the first static ropes designed exclusively for fire and industrial high-rise rescue use. As the company grew we began manufacturing dynamic ropes for climbing. 1983 saw the premier of our complete line of climbing ropes. These ropes were the first American-made, UIAA (Union Internationale Des Association D'Apinisme) certified climbing ropes sold in the U.S.A.

Since then climbing as a sport has undergone considerable growth. The recent addition of sport climbing as a separate discipline and the corresponding popularity of indoor climbing gyms has introduced the sport to a large number of people who would otherwise not have been exposed to climbing.

In response to this growth BlueWater has expanded its product line. From our original static caving and rescue ropes to UIAA certified dynamic climbing ropes, we now manufacture and distribute a complete line of high quality climbing products including carabiners, hardware and harnesses for all aspects of climbing.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

BlueWater operates under ISO 9002 Total Quality Management guidelines. This internationally recognized quality assurance program ensures the highest quality possible in manufacturing and service. From the monitoring of raw materials, component parts and in-line processes by our fully equipped laboratory, to our sales and customer service department, our ISO 9002 TQM program guarantees consistent quality in our products and service. No other American climbing equipment manufacturer does this.

All BlueWater products are rated by their minimum breaking strengths. We use minimum strength ratings rather than average breaking strengths or 3-Sigma ratings because we feel it is important to eliminate even the smallest chance of our products failing at less than their rated strengths. In addition to this, all BlueWater carabiners are individually inspected and tested to half their rated strength before leaving the factory. BlueWater Catalyst carabiners are UIAA certified, and the strength of all BlueWater carabiners exceeds UIAA performance requirements.

BlueWater dynamic ropes are UIAA certified and our static ropes exceed NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) standards for static rescue ropes. Not only are individual rope components randomly tested during production, but finished ropes are also batch tested to maintain the highest quality standards. Our climbing harnesses are designed to be the safest, most comfortable, easy-to-use harnesses available today and meet or exceed UIAA requirements as well.
