ACCESSORY CORDS

BlueWater Accessory Cords Our accessory cords are available in 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm, 6 mm, 7 mm, 8 mm and 9 mm diameters. The smallest sizes 3 mm and 4 mm can be used for anything from zipper pull tabs to nut tool leashes. Sizes 5 mm through 7 mm are commonly used for tying prussik knots, and sizes 7 mm through 9 mm are most useful for slinging chocks drilled to fit various size cords. BlueWater accessory cords in sizes 4 mm through 8 mm are UIAA certified. We reccommend joining the ends of nylon accessory cord sling with a double fisherman's knot.

Titan^TM Cords Our Titan accessory cord combines the high strength of AlliedSignal Corporation's Spectra® fibers in the core for strength with a 100% Caprolan® 2000 nylon sheath for durability. In addition to its high strength, Spectra fiber has the advantage of not losing significant strength with repeated flexing.

Our 5.5 mm Titan cord is a true size that will easily fit through the small holes drilled in the majority of nuts available today. The 7 mm size is ideal for haul lines or for slinging your old chockstones.

We recommend finishing the ends of Titan chock slings by "milking" about a half-inch of the Spectra core out from the sheath, removing it and then melting the nylon sheath into a smooth hard "cap" on the end of the cord. This method of finishing will allow the cord to fit all chocks easily. We also recommend joining the ends of Titan cord slings with a triple fisherman's knot to minimize any chance of the knot slipping.
